Study tour and impact on education, including ES forum
The study tour organized by SENSE Activity enabled the Gombe and Adamawa state universal basic education board top management and the local education authority to share knowledge and experience on effective management of Education. Some of the interests included data management and storage, school management and teacher engagement in schools, teachers’ and pupils’ attendance, community involvement in schools (SBMCs and PTA), commitment to Donor funded activity in the state, and education secretaries’ support to Head Teachers on data management and storage.
At the end of the study, the two parties peer-reviewed their findings and learned from each other. Executive Chairman GSUBEB Hon. Babaji Babadidi has this to say in his visit to Capital School Jimeta, Adamawa State “This is a good school with good structure and learning environment. I like what I saw particularly the innovation by the school PTA where they collaborated with a private organization to open a JAMB center in the school”. He also added that the science laboratory he saw in that school also impressed him that he will replicate the same in all the primary schools in Gombe State.
Gombe LGEA Education Secretary Malam Abubakar A. Baba on his visit to Shelleng LGEA said “The Shelleng ES has a lot of management skills and shared some strategies with me that is working in Adamawa which is not happening in Gombe state”.
Executive Chairman SUBEB Adamawa Dr. Salihi Atiku said, “Had it been we had this idea even before SENSE program, we could have gone far in terms of management and planning of education system in Northeast Nigeria.
